Heavy Rotation Records releases "Under The Influence"
hrr2012-web.jpg On February 14th, Heavy Rotation Records, partnered with Rightsflow (recently acquired by Google), released their latest album Under The Influence. The album has been released to both physical and digital outlets.

To promote the record using social media, HRR has contracted with Brightshop/Primarywave, giving students the opportunity to work with experts on reaching out to all social media outlets. Brightshop is located in New York City, so every week students have a conference call with Brightshop representatives. They are also planning a trip to NYC to visit Brightshop and Rightsflow. Students have also been given the opportunity to work with Pirate! radio promotion in Cambridge, MA. With direction from Pirate, students are tracking airplay at college radio across the country. Heavy Rotation doesn't only support their artists with recordings, they also help with live appearances. This year, Heavy Rotation has scheduled artist performances at SXSW in Texas, Lollapalooza in Chicago, Wanderlust Festival in Colorado, and CMJ in New York City. Listen to tracks from Under The Influence on Bandcamp.

Berklee Students and Alumni to perform at 7908 Aspen Songwriters Festival
MB/M student Nick Goldston and alumni Merrily James and Sam Shrieve will be performing at John Oates' 7908 Aspen Songwriters Festival taking place March 21-25 in Aspen, Colorado. The three will perform in the Berklee Songwriter's Circle showcase on March 23. Headliners include J.D. Souther, Kenny Loggins, Sophie B. Hawkins, and many others.

Oates stated "As executive producer of the 7908 Aspen Songwriters Festival, I am very excited to host the young songwriters from Berklee.  A big part of our not-for-profit mission and vision for our festival is mentoring and perpetuating the art and craft of songwriting. I believe this is a first step in achieving that goal. These talented young individuals represent the future of songwriting and giving them the opportunity to perform alongside of some of the worlds most respected and well-known artists is the heart and soul of 7908. We look forward to a long association with Berklee College of Music, as the institution's reputation for quality and musical integrity is in perfect harmony with the Aspen Songwriters Festival spirit."

Berklee Lollapalooza Endowed Scholarship Announced
The Berklee Lollapalooza Endowed Scholarship is a four-year, full tuition scholarship that will be awarded annually to a talented musician in financial need. This scholarship is the cornerstone of a new multi-faceted partnership between Lollapalooza and Berklee developed by Music Business/Management Professor, Jeff Dorenfeld and festival producer, C3 Presents. It is also the first first educational initiative of its kind for Lollapalooza. The collaboration also resulted in a performance slot at the 2011 festival for Berklee alumna singer-songwriter Julia Easterlin, internships at Kidzapalooza for six Berklee students, and the Berklee Lollapalooza Five-Week Scholarship, awarded to a Chicago teen attending the college's summer performance program.

The scholarship is being endowed by Goldman Sachs Gives, a donor-advised fund. The first recipient will be named at Lollapalooza 2012 and will be selected through Berklee's auditions and interviews conducted during the Berklee World Tour.

The Berklee Lollapalooza Endowed Scholarship was established at the recommendation of Fran Bermanzohn, a Berklee Trustee. Bermanzohn is Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel of Goldman Sachs. Read more...
